Grey, in the best way.

I didn't sleep well last night. Between my already pitiful bladder (Thank you, third child), my grumbling stomach (again....third child), the rumbling weather, and the garbage man I did not sleep well last night. But I woke up to today, and oh what a day. The most beautiful grey. I know. I know I sound sarcastic, or maybe just a little batty, but really. You should have seen it. Dark, thick, rich, grey that makes twilight out of 10 in the morning. I see. I'm not helping my case. But did you see the green? That's the best part about grey. If you've never seen a tree in new leaf, fresh baby green all over it, wrapped in a great grey sky then truly, you have much of the world to see, for that is the best this world has to offer.

I grew up in grey. I saw the world on a grey backdrop. It is where I am most comfortable. When my first child was born the world was grey. We had seen some fair days and some grey days and something in me said she would come with the rain. She did. The night she came we went to look at some shelves someone was selling. We walked to our car through puddles. We caught drips and drops on our way into their home. We looked at the shelves. We told them we'd talk about it and call them later. On our way back to our car, in the rain I had a contraction and it was different, and I knew she was coming, and I knew it was because of the rain.

    1. Duly noted. Though I will be surprised if I ever see it.

  2. Cool. I love this. I can totally understand this affinity for grey, because mine is for brown--eastern Washington brown, all the shades of brown, and all the things they mean.

    1. mmmmm. Brown. I also rather love brown. It's cozier than grey. When it comes down to it, they both go well with green and that may be the root of it. :D

  3. And here are the tornado statistics for Lafayette Parish, 1953-1995: http://www.tornadoproject.com/alltorns/latorn.htm#L

21 tornadoes, 2 deaths, and only twice has the injury count gone over 4.

We're partly cloudy today, but distinctly spring-like, and I love it.

    1. Meaning that the tornadoes that have come have had the good grace to mostly avoid people. Since there are no basements here we can't very well avoid them much.

Glad you are enjoying some spring too.
